CDIP buoy 272 sits off Rumung, the northernmost of the Yap islands in the Federated States of Micronesia. Yap is famous for stone money and manta-ray diving, but it also picks up consistent trade-wind swell year-round and long-period north Pacific swells in winter. The Rumung buoy is the only public wave instrument for Yap.
